TO ARIEL, LOVE ARIEL

KATIE LOUISE STOTE

Stop.

Stop pouring yourself

into hollow bodies.

Hanging your tinfoil stars

from their coastal cartilage.

Every time they take a breath,

you see a cosmic kaleidoscope.

They are mere flesh,

organs,

raindrops.

You.

You are the entire ocean,

your heart is full of storms,

your mind a tsunami.

You are made only for demolition,

to be conquered, controlled.

Their toxic words spill into your rivers,

darkness floods your crystal waters,

swelling, drowning.

You try to use their hands as blades

to set the tempest free.

- To Ariel, Love Ariel.
